Tell us about yourself - parent, entrepreneur, favorite hobbies, the things that keep you happy :)
I'm Meng, Founder of Huhu, a simple, functional and gender neutral diaper backpack. I started Huhu because I was frustrated with the diaper bag options available on the market - they are either low cost and low quality or higher quality but designed to be a women's fashion statement. I wanted something simple and high quality and something that my husband and I could both use. I am a parent to two kids, ages 7 and 2.5, and we live in the Bay Area. Being an entrepreneur and parent to two kids keeps me pretty busy so I don't have a lot of time for hobbies! But when I do have free time, I enjoy watching cheesy rom coms, trying new recipes, hiking and catching up with friends over cocktails.
What was the best or worst piece of advice you received during your pregnancy /while raising your children? And what would you love to pass on to other mamas/parents and soon to be?
The best (or most memorable perhaps) piece of wisdom I got was that the days are long and the weeks are short...and it was completely true! During those first six months with a baby, one day feels like it's 30 hours and it'll never end. And then one day you can't believe how much your baby has grown up! So, while the days can be really long and hard, try to also savor, remember and appreciate those moments because kids really do grow up crazy fast.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help and to ask often. Ask your partner, ask your friends, ask your parents, ask your neighbors, ask your co-workers. I think mothers have a tendency to think that they should act like they can do it all (at least I did) and really there's nothing wrong with asking other for help. It'll make your life a lot easier.
What is your favorite mama/parent moment?
My kids are at the age where they can now interact and play with each other more. While there are many moments when they are both crying and fighting over the same toy, it's been so much fun to see my daughter read a book to her younger brother or watch the two of them playing a game and laughing together..
